The 80th Anniversary of VE Day 50p Cupro-Nickel 2025
The 80th Anniversary of VE Day 50p Cupronickel 2025 is a coin commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe – an event that brought long-awaited peace after nearly six years of fighting, sacrifice, and uncertainty. Victory in Europe Day (VE Day), celebrated on May 8, 1945, became a symbol of joy, relief, and national pride. This coin pays tribute to that historic day and to all those who contributed to the victory over Nazism.
The coin is struck from a copper-nickel alloy, weighs 8 grams, and has a diameter of 27.30 mm. It is an official product of the renowned Royal Mint and has an unlimited mintage. The coin is backed by the British government’s guarantee, confirming its authenticity, metal composition, and legal tender status in the issuing country.
Obverse features a portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings, along with the denomination and year of issue – 2025.
Reverse presents a remastered design of the “peace dove” by the late artist John Mills, originally issued for the 50th anniversary of the war’s end in 1995. The new version is enriched with the words “IN PEACE GOODWILL”, taken from the series *The Second World War* by Winston Churchill. The design symbolizes hope, peace, and reconciliation after one of the most tragic conflicts in human history.
