These coins were introduced in response to the currency crisis of 1800 that affected the colony of New South Wales. Governor Macquarie imported Spanish reales, modifying them into “holey dollars” and “dumps”, laying the foundation for Australia’s own currency.

This edition has been struck from pure gold of 1/4 troy ounce and .9999 fineness, in proof quality. The product is limited to just 750 pieces.
