The 225th Anniversary of Australian Proclamation Coins - Pillar Dollar 1/4 oz Gold 2025 Proof
With the release of The 225th Anniversary of Australian Proclamation Coins – Pillar Dollar 1/4 oz Gold 2025 Proof, The Perth Mint commemorates the 225th anniversary of Australia's Proclamation Coins. These coins were introduced in response to the currency crisis of 1800 that affected the colony of New South Wales. Governor Macquarie imported Spanish reales, modifying them into “holey dollars” and “dumps”, laying the foundation for Australia’s own currency.
