South Korea: Chiwoo Cheonwang 1 oz Silver 2025
Chiwoo Cheonwang is a legendary figure revered in both Chinese and Korean cultures. In mythology, he is described as the god of war, ruler of iron, and master of military art. He was regarded as a powerful warrior who commanded an iron army and possessed supernatural abilities. Historically, he is depicted as the leader of the Nine Li tribe, one of the three founding fathers of China, and the 14th emperor of Shinshi – the first semi-legendary state considered the cradle of the Korean nation. His figure symbolizes courage, persistence, and military might.
The 2025 silver medal was minted in South Korea by KOMSCO. It contains pure silver with a fineness of Ag.999, weighs 1 troy ounce, and has a diameter of 40 mm. This is another edition of the popular collector series featuring the image of Chiwoo Cheonwang.
On the obverse, there is a design of Chiwoo Cheonwang’s shield with the image of Dokkaebi – a unique mythical creature from Korean folklore, described as a spirit, monster, or god, resembling a hobgoblin from Western culture. The obverse also includes information about the country of origin, silver fineness, year of issue, and the producer’s logo.
On the reverse of the medal, Chiwoo Cheonwang is depicted in full battle armor, riding a mighty tiger. The composition is shown in a dynamic pose emphasizing the martial character of the figure. The reverse also bears the inscription "CHIWOO CHEONWANG".
