Silver Coin Slavic Beasts: Utopiec 2 oz Silver 2026

The Silver Coin Slavic Bestiary: Utopiec 2 oz Silver 2026 is the second issue in the Slavic Bestiary series, inspired by ancient beliefs and legends of the Slavic peoples. The coin was struck from 2 ounces of pure Ag 999 silver for the Republic of Cameroon and depicts one of the most mysterious water demons found in Slavic folklore.

For centuries, the Utopiec inspired fear among people living near rivers, lakes, and marshes. In folk tales, it was a creature inhabiting the depths and swampy areas, where it lay in wait for careless wanderers. Its figure was associated with unexplained disappearances and tragic drownings, which made it a symbol of the untamed power of nature and the mysteries hidden by water. Depending on the region, it was regarded both as a malevolent being and as a guardian of watery wildernesses who was to be treated with respect.

The coin was struck from 2 ounces of Ag 999 silver, has a diameter of 38.61 mm, and a face value of 1000 CFA. The mintage is limited to 2,000 pieces. Each coin is placed in a protective capsule and delivered with a certificate of authenticity.

The obverse features the coat of arms of the Republic of Cameroon together with the face value, with the year of issue placed above it. The entire design is surrounded by a richly ornamented background filled with plant and animal motifs inspired by the underwater world. The intricately crafted details create an exceptionally decorative composition, emphasizing the coin’s artistic character.

The reverse depicts the Utopiec emerging from dark marshes. The mythical creature, with its gaunt silhouette, elongated limbs, and fish tail, is surrounded by dense wetland vegetation and numerous landscape elements such as reeds, water lilies, a frog, a dragonfly, and an old wooden wheel. The design is completed by the inscriptions “UTOPIEC” and “SLAVIC BESTIARY”, indicating the coin’s belonging to a series dedicated to Slavic legends.
