Silver Coin Journey Around the World - New York Colorized 3 oz Silver 2026 Proof
The Journey Around the World – New York Colorized 3 oz Silver Coin 2026 Proof is the sixth issue in the collectible Journey Around the World series, prepared by the Czech Mint. The collection showcases the world’s most recognizable cities, and the 2026 edition is dedicated to New York – one of the largest and most influential metropolises on the globe. The coin was struck from 3 ounces of pure .999 silver in Proof quality, and its selective colorization highlights the most important elements of the design.
New York was established on lands originally inhabited by the Lenape people, and in 1614 the Dutch founded the settlement of New Amsterdam here. After the English took control in 1664, the city received the name New York, which remains in use to this day. In the centuries that followed, the metropolis became a symbol of American growth and a destination for millions of immigrants from all over the world. Today, New York is a global center of finance, culture, art, media, and fashion, and its distinctive skyline of skyscrapers is among the most recognizable in the world. It is no coincidence that the city is known as “The City That Never Sleeps” – a city that never sleeps.
The coin was issued on behalf of Niue and has a face value of 5 New Zealand dollars (NZD). It is made of 93.3 g (3 oz) of .999 silver, has a diameter of 50 mm, and was struck in Proof quality. This is the first series in the history of the Czech Mint to include coins weighing three troy ounces. The piece is housed in a protective capsule and an elegant blue case, and the set also includes an illustrated brochure.
The obverse, shared across the entire Journey Around the World series, features a composition made up of flags and iconic landmarks of world metropolises such as Prague, London, Hong Kong, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, and New York. It also includes the coat of arms of Niue, the face value 5 DOLLARS, and the year of issue 2026. The design was created by Jiří Hanuš, DiS..
The reverse depicts the most recognizable symbols of New York. The central element of the composition is the Statue of Liberty, set against a backdrop showing the city skyline with the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, and the Brooklyn Bridge. The selective colorization emphasizes the design details and gives the coin a unique character. The reverse was designed by Jiří Hanuš, DiS..
