Silver Coin Exotic Butterflies - Swallowtail Colored 5 Dinars Silver 2013 3D Proof
The Silver Coin Exotic Butterflies - Swallowtail Coloured 5 Diners Silver 2013 3D Proof is an exceptionally striking collector’s issue dedicated to one of the most beautiful butterflies in the world – the swallowtail (Papilio machaon). The coin was struck in .925 fine silver in the Proof standard and is the third release in the acclaimed “Exotic Butterflies” series. Thanks to the use of innovative 3D technology, the design gains remarkable depth and a highly realistic character.
The swallowtail is one of the most recognizable butterflies in Europe and Asia, distinguished by its characteristic yellow-and-black wings and red eye-spots on the hindwings. It symbolizes lightness, beauty, and freedom, which is why the butterfly motif has enjoyed great popularity in collectible numismatics for many years. The colorful reverse design perfectly captures the delicacy and elegance of this extraordinary insect.
The coin was issued for the Principality of Andorra by the renowned company CIT, which specializes in modern collector issues. The piece weighs 25 grams and was made of .925 fine silver, equivalent to 23.125 g of pure silver. The limited mintage of only 2,500 pieces worldwide further emphasizes the collectible nature of this issue.
Obverse depicts the coat of arms of the Principality of Andorra along with the motto “VIRTVS VNITA FORTIOR,” meaning “United virtue is stronger.” The inscriptions around the rim include “PRINCIPAT D'ANDORRA”, the face value 5 D., and the year of issue 2013.
Reverse features a colorful Papilio machaon butterfly created using impressive 3D technology, which gives the design a spatial character. The composition is complemented by the inscriptions “PAPALLONES EXÒTIQUES” and “PAPILIO MACHAON”.
