Silver Coin Cheetah 2 oz Silver 2026 Proof High Relief
The Cheetah Silver Coin 2 oz Silver 2026 Proof High Relief is the first issue in the new The African Range series, created by the South African Mint to showcase the most fascinating representatives of African wildlife. The series has been planned for five years and presents the successive stages of the cheetah’s hunt: Survey, Stalk, Chase, Catch, and Repose. The year 2026 opens the collection with the Survey motif, depicting the predator in a moment of vigilant observation of its surroundings.
The coin’s design is based on sculptures by the world-renowned South African artist Dylan Lewis, whose works have inspired lovers of art and African nature for many years. Thanks to the use of the High Relief technique, the image of the cheetah has gained exceptional depth and an almost sculptural form, emphasizing the muscular silhouette and distinctive elegance of one of the fastest land predators in the world.
The coin was struck from 2 ounces of pure .999 fine silver in the highest Proof minting standard. Its diameter is 38.65 mm, and the worldwide mintage has been limited to just 2,500 pieces. Each coin is delivered in its original presentation case together with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
Obverse features a cheetah in a pose symbolizing the “Survey” stage, the moment of careful observation before the hunt begins. The design is complemented by information regarding the face value, silver fineness, and the name of the series.
Reverse depicts an impressive bust of a cheetah inspired by Dylan Lewis’s sculpture “Cheetah Head.” The composition is enriched by the year of issue 2026 and the issuing country’s name shown in two languages: “South Africa” and “Iningizimu Afrika.” Thanks to the high relief and precise craftsmanship, the design captivates with exceptional depth and a wealth of detail.
