Silver Coin Canada: Silver Dollar - 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Queen Elizabeth II $1 Silver 2026 Proof
Canada Silver Coin: Silver Dollar – 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Queen Elizabeth II $1 Silver 2026 Proof is a collector issue prepared by the Royal Canadian Mint to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is Canada’s tribute to the monarch, who for seven decades on the throne remained an important symbol of the continuity of the state and of the ties between Canada and the British Crown.
The coin is struck in Ag .9999 silver, weighs 23.17 g, and has a diameter of 36.07 mm. It carries a face value of 1 Canadian dollar and is produced in Proof quality, characterized by mirror-like fields and a frosted relief. The mintage is limited to 17,500 pieces. The coin is presented in an elegant mint case.
The design references one of the most recognizable pieces of jewelry worn by Queen Elizabeth II — the Diamond Maple Leaf Brooch, a maple leaf–shaped brooch that became a symbol of her special bond with Canada.
Obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt—the portrait used on Canada’s coins from 2003–2023.
The reverse, designed by Simon Ng, depicts a stylized maple leaf inspired by the royal Diamond Maple Leaf Brooch. Above it appears Queen Elizabeth II’s royal monogram (Royal Cypher). The composition is encircled by a decorative filigree motif, within which 13 maple leaves are hidden to symbolize Canada’s provinces and territories.
