Silver Coin Art That Changed the World – Gothic Art 2014 Green Agate is a collector’s issue from the Art That Changed the World series, produced by the Polish Mint. The coin was struck from 28.28 g of Ag 999 fine silver according to a design by Robert Kotowicz and stands out for its striking decoration in the form of natural green agate, which emphasizes the exceptional character of the composition.
The series is dedicated to groundbreaking movements in the history of art that permanently influenced the development of architecture and culture. The 2014 issue pays tribute to Gothic art – a style that developed in Europe from the 12th century onward, renowned for its monumental cathedrals, soaring vaults, pointed arches, and extraordinary attention to architectural detail.
The coin was struck from 28.28 g of pure Ag 999 silver and decorated with authentic green agate. The mintage was limited to just 3,333 pieces.
Obverse depicts the main nave of a cathedral, with its central part adorned with a striking green agate insert. In the lower part of the composition, a miniature effigy of Queen Elizabeth II is placed, along with inscriptions identifying the coin as official legal tender of the issuer.
Reverse features the presbytery of the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Lincoln, one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Europe. The composition is complemented by a decorative element made of green agate, harmoniously echoing the motif used on the obverse.
