The wreck of the RMS Titanic was discovered in 1985 by a team led by oceanographer Robert Ballard, more than 73 years after the ship’s tragic sinking during her maiden voyage in April 1912. The discovery, made at a depth of nearly 4 kilometers, was possible thanks to the use of advanced deep-sea technology and allowed the world to see for the first time the remains of the legendary ocean liner resting on the floor of the Atlantic Ocean. This event became a breakthrough both in maritime history and in the development of underwater research.

The coin was struck from 28.28 g of .925 fine silver, has a diameter of 38.6 mm, and a face value of 5 pounds. The worldwide mintage was limited to just 2,025 pieces, emphasizing the collectible nature of this issue.
