Silkpunk Collectible Note UNC
Collector’s Note: Silkpunk UNC is the first release in the The Punk Universe series, issued by the Gdańsk Mint in 2023. The design combines contemporary science-fiction aesthetics with advanced security technologies, creating a collectible product with a distinctive character.
The note measures 140 x 70 mm and is made on specialist paper produced by PWPW S.A., ensuring a high level of security and print durability. It features UV printing and a hologram, and the grade is UNC.
The denomination is 0 Gdańsk Zlotys, referencing Gdańsk’s historical currency. The concept was inspired by the “Zero Rupee” banknote featuring Mahatma Gandhi, and the note itself carries a symbolic social and anti-inflation message. This product is not legal tender in Poland.
The piece is secured with a range of modern features: an image active under UV light, positive microtext, signature, hologram, a two-tone running watermark, security fibers visible in daylight and under UV, chemical security features, and typographic numbering active under UV.
The Silkpunk motif refers to a genre that blends science fiction and fantasy, inspired by the cultures of ancient East Asia. It employs natural materials such as bamboo, silk, paper, and shells, and its aesthetics are based on bionics—emulating solutions developed by nature through evolution.
The mintage is strictly limited to 5,000 pieces worldwide. The Silkpunk collector’s note combines banknote tradition with modern technology and a futuristic vision of the world.
