The product is from The Big Five African Animals series and depicts an African lion. The lion is considered the king of all African animals and as the strongest predator of that area of the world. The coin was struck in Ag.999 sterling silver, weighing 1 troy ounce and measuring 38.6mm in diameter. The excellent Pobjoy Mint is responsible for the limited mintage of up to 5,000 pieces. The product is full legal tender in the Republic of Sierra Leone.The obverse shows the coat of arms of Sierra Leone, the inscription "REPUBLIC OF SIERRA LEONE" and the date of issue of the coin. The Rewers presents an African lion, which has a stylised head resembling an African mask.
