The coin was struck in Au.9999 gold, weighing 1 troy ounce and measuring 32.7mm in diameter. The excellent Pobjoy Mint is responsible for the limited issue of 50 pieces. The product is full legal tender in the Republic of Sierra Leone.The obverse shows the coat of arms of Sierra Leone, the inscription "REPUBLIC OF SIERRA LEONE" and the date of issue of the coin. The Rewers presents an African lion, which has a stylised head resembling an African mask.
