Sierra Leone: The Big Five - Buffalo 1 ounce Gold 2023 is the third installment of currency minted on behalf of the Republic of Sierra Leone. The product is from The Big Five African Animals series and shows an African buffalo. The animal is large and massive with distinctive stacked horns on its head. It is found in both humid lowland tropical forests, savannah, semi-desert bush and dry forests.

The coin was struck from Au.9999 gold, weighing 1 troy ounce and measuring 32.7mm in diameter. The excellent Pobjoy Mint is responsible for the limited issue of 50 pieces. The product is full legal tender in the Republic of Sierra Leone.

The obverse shows the coat of arms of Sierra Leone, the inscription "REPUBLIC OF SIERRA LEONE" and the date of issue of the coin.
