The Endangered Animals series honours 10 animals living in Mexico that are in danger of extinction. Each coin weighs 31g.and has a diameter of 40mm. They all share a common obverse. This design features a large modern-style coat of arms that has been used in various styles throughout Mexican history. It is surrounded by ten different styles of Mexican coat of arms that have been used over the years. The reverse depicts an image of a Volcanic Bunny. On the left is the year of mintage, while on the right is the denomination of the coin.The obverse depicts the coat of arms of Mexico, i.e. an eagle holding a serpent in its beak and claws, which is surrounded by a wreath. Above this is the inscription ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS, or the United States of Mexico.
