The "Santa Maria 1 oz Silver 2022" is a coin struck on behalf of the British Virgin Islands, by the Pobjoy Mint.It is the third coin in the ship series. "Santa Maria" was the flagship during the first expedition and one of the largest of Christopher Columbus' ships in his 1492 expedition in search of a sea route to Asia from Europe. The ship was owned by Juan de la Cosa. The silver piece was struck in pure Ag.999 bullion, weighing one troy ounce and measuring 38.6 mm in diameter. The mintage of the coin is only 10,000 pieces.The obverse of the silver coin depicts a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a crown. On the obverse are the inscriptions - "BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS", "QUEEN ELIZABETH 2022".

On the reverse is the Santa Maria, the historic flagship of explorer Christopher Columbus, and information on weight, bullion proof and face value.
