As one of the most revered and iconic creatures in Chinese culture, the dragon is believed to symbolise strength, luck and prosperity. The coin was struck in pure Ag.999 sterling silver, weighing 2 troy ounces and measuring 40 mm in diameter, in antiqued standard. The US Mint Scottsdale Mint is responsible for the limited issue of 888 pieces. Furthermore, each coin that is part of the 'Lunar New Year ' is guaranteed as to the legality, purity of the sample and origin of the bullion, and is full legal tender in the islands of Samoa.

The Averse of the silver coin depicts the coat of arms of the islands of Samoa along with information on the issuing country, year of mintage, purity of bullion and face value.

The reverse features an image of a dragon and the inscriptions: "YEAR OF THE DRAGON", "2024".
