Quokka Colorized 1 oz Silver 2025 Proof
The silver coloured coin featuring the latest design of the Australian Quokka is a unique offering from the renowned Perth Mint. The Quokka, a small marsupial similar to a kangaroo, is a symbol of Australia’s natural heritage and an important part of the culture of the Noongar people, the traditional custodians of the country’s southwest. The Quokka population has significantly declined due to habitat loss and predators, but today they can mainly be found on Rottnest Island, located 18 km from Perth. These animals, with their dense grey-brown fur, broad faces, round ears, and black eyes, are known for their friendly nature and characteristic “smile,” earning them the title of the “happiest animal in the world.”
Reverse of the coin depicts a happy family of Quokkas standing on white sand amid colourful vegetation. In the background, the blue waters of the Indian Ocean and the distinctive Wadjemup Lighthouse, situated at the highest point of the island, are visible. The reverse also features the inscription “QUOKKA,” the year 2025, and the Perth Mint’s mintmark – a micro-engraved letter “P.” The coin weighs one troy ounce of pure silver (Ag.9999), has a maximum diameter of 40.9 mm, and is struck in proof quality. The maximum mintage is 3,000 pieces. The product is delivered in an elegant box with a transparent lid and includes a numbered certificate of authenticity.
Obverse of the coin shows a portrait of King Charles III by Daniel Thorne, along with the coin’s face value, weight, silver purity, and country of issue.
