The reverse of the coin features an image of a cougar during a leap, as well as the grade in which the coin was struck (Ag . 9999) and the name of the country (Canada) in which it is produced. The coin's design was developed by Walter Otto. Since 2014, the mint has further secured the coins by adding a laser-engraved miniature leaf in the lower right quadrant of the coin, above the weight information, which is virtually impossible to counterfeit.
