A gold coin commemorating the assumption of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The Presidency enables the introduction of new initiatives and the continuation of the Union's previous activities, ensuring the coherent functioning of all components affecting the development of the European Union. The gold coin from the NBP has a weight of 8 grams and purity of gold 900. Its uniqueness is emphasised by its mirror finish and limited mintage of 4,000 pieces. The entire piece, together with a certificate of authenticity, is housed in an elegant case. The Averse is decorated with the image of the eagle established for the emblem of the Republic of Poland against the contours of the territory of Europe. Around the eagle there are twelve stars.Above it is the face value of the coin, and below it the inscription "RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA 2011". Rewers are adorned with the logo of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, against the background of a stylised fragment of the European Union flag.
