The renowned precious metals producer, The Perth Mint, is responsible for the production of the coin. The coin is guaranteed by the Australian Government as to the legality and origin of the metal, as well as being fully legal tender in the issuer's country. The specimen features a micro-engraved lettering security feature on the reverse side.
The obverse of the Year of the Rabbit coin is decorated with the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA". In addition, the obverse side features information on the face value, weight and minting proof of the coin, designed by Jody Clark. The Rewers depicts a leaping rabbit among the grasses and includes the Chinese character for "rabbit" and the year of minting of the currency. The designer was Ing Ing Jong.
