Perth Mint: Lunar III - Year of the Dragon 1 oz Gold 2024 ProofThis is the fifth piece in the Lunar III series. The previous coins in the series were the Year of the Mouse 2020, the Year of the Buffalo 2021 and the Year of the Tiger 2022, Year of the Rabbit 2023. The Lunar series refers to the 12 animals that represent the Chinese lunar calendar. The Year of the Dragon 2024 belongs to the dragon and, in Chinese mythology, is a majestic beast that inhabits rivers, lakes and oceans and roams the sky. The Chinese zodiac sign of the dragon falls in the years: 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012 and 2024. All Lunar III coins are extremely popular with investors and collectors alike every year, and the design of the values is prepared with the utmost care and precision by world-renowned designers. It is worth remembering that the products which are part of the lunar collection are an excellent investment of capital, due to the investment value increasing from year to year.

The gold coin was struck in bullion sample - Au.9999, weight of 1 troy ounce, in proof standard. An important feature is the coin's limited mintage of just 2,500 pieces. Each coin comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity and original packaging.

The Averse side of the Year of the Dragon coin is decorated with an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA". In addition, the obverse side features information on the face value, weight and mintage.

Rewers depict a Chinese dragon. The reverse also features the Chinese dragon mark, the inscription 'DRAGON 2024' and the letter 'P', the mint mark of The Perth Mint.
