Crafted in fine silver, the medal pays homage to a popular American coin that was in circulation during the first half of the early 20th century. The original Peace Dollar design was created by Italian-American sculptor Anthony de Francisci as part of a competition for an image expressing the ideals of freedom and peace held after the end of the First World War. The obverse of the medal depicts the image of the goddess Liberty. A tiara of spiky rays has been delicately placed on Lady Liberty's head to reinforce her stance as a symbol of strength and inspiration.
