Niue: The Milky Way - The First Artificial Satellite coloured $1 Silver 2022 Proof is the third coin in the 'The Milky Way' series. The coin depicts a satellite - Sputnik 1. This was the first artificial satellite launched by the USSR on 4 October 1957. Visual and radio observations of Sputnik were made around the world.

The specimen was struck in pure Ag.999 bullion, weighing 31.1 grams, with a diameter of 37 mm, in proof standard. The product has a mintage of only 2,500 pieces. This unique piece was designed by Asamat Baltaev, DiS. and produced by the Czech Mint, as well as being official legal tender in Niue. The coin is guaranteed as to its legality, purity of the bullion and origin of the metal. The product is delivered in the original box together with a certificate of authenticity.

The obverse of the coin is decorated with the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain and a flying saucer, the inscription "NIUE ISLAND", "ELIZABETH II" and the coin's denomination and year. The obverse was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. The Rewers depicts a coloured satellite - Sputnik 1 in the Solar System. The reverse bears the inscription 'SPUTNIK I'.
