The Sitting Bull Gilded 2 oz Silver 2025 Antiqued Coin is an issue in the Legendary Warriors series by Niue. It is the eleventh release in this series, commemorating Sitting Bull, the famous Hunkpapa Lakota chief whose life became a symbol of courage and resistance. The coin weighs 62.2 g (2 ounces), is struck from 99.9% silver in Antique Finish with gilded elements. The coin’s diameter is 45 mm, and the mintage is limited to 500 pieces worldwide. The face value is 5 dollars.

Born on the Great Plains, Sitting Bull grew into a warrior and a visionary, leading his people through unrelenting hardship. In 1876, his leadership and prophetic visions contributed to the legendary victory at the Battle of the Little Bighorn, where General Custer’s forces were defeated. This victory made him a living symbol of resistance to American expansion.

Even after his surrender in 1881, Sitting Bull’s spirit never waned. While living on the reservation, he remained the voice and strength of his people, constantly fighting for the rights and dignity of the Lakota. In 1890, when the authorities tried to silence him, tragedy struck—he was killed during his arrest, and his death became the spark that led to the tragic Wounded Knee Massacre.

Although his life ended turbulently, the legend of Sitting Bull endures. He stands as a symbol not only of a warrior, but also of a guardian of the freedom and spirit of the Lakota.
