The obverse of the coin is decorated with the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, the inscription "NIUE ISLAND" and the denomination and year of the coin. The designer of the obverse was Ian Rank-Broadley. The Rewers features an image of the Scarab and decorative ornaments. The reverse bears the inscription 'SCARAB.
