Niue: Hatamoto Coloured/Gilded 2 oz Silver 2025 Antiqued Coin
Niue: Hatamoto colored/gilded 2 oz Silver 2025 Antiqued Coin is the second release in the prestigious “Warrior’s Path” series, dedicated to the samurai guardians of the daimyo – the Hatamoto. Struck from 2 ounces of pure .999 silver, it features an antique finish with selective gilding and color accents, creating exceptional depth and contrast. The coin weighs 62.2 g, has a diameter of 45 mm, and a face value of 5 New Zealand dollars. Issued by Niue in 2025, it is limited to only 500 pieces worldwide. Each coin is presented in an elegant case with a certificate of authenticity.
The design highlights the symbolism of loyalty, courage, and honor – virtues that formed the foundation of the samurai code. The Hatamoto, elite warriors and living banners of duty, are portrayed in full battle armor, reflecting both their historical role and timeless values.
Obverse depicts the coat of arms of Niue along with the year of issue – 2025. Below is the coin’s face value, while inscriptions indicating weight and silver purity are placed on either side. The composition is completed by the inscription “HATAMOTO” at the top, giving the design its thematic identity. The layout combines the classic style of circulation coins with artistic numismatics.
Reverse presents a striking scene of a Hatamoto mounted on a proud steed, clad in black armor adorned with gilded details and a fearsome battle mask that transforms him into an almost immortal figure. Behind him glows a vast setting sun, intensifying the majesty of the design. The composition is enriched with falling sakura petals – symbols of life’s fragility and beauty – and the outlines of traditional temples on the horizon, guardians of samurai culture. The dynamic, symbolic imagery underlines the warrior’s path virtues: loyalty, courage, and honor.
