Lü Dongbin is one of the most famous of the Eight Immortals in Chinese mythology and Taoism. He is often depicted as a scholar, carrying a sword to ward off evil and a fan. He is revered by the sick and respected as a wise scholar.

The coin is struck from .999 fine silver, weighing 2 troy ounces with a diameter of 45 mm. The coin is gold-plated with 24-karat gold. The mintage is limited to 500 pieces, and it comes with the Niue government’s guarantee of the metal’s purity, legality, and origin. The coin is also a legal tender in Niue.
