The obverse of the coin is decorated with the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, the inscription "NIUE ISLAND" and the denomination and year of the coin. The designer of the obverse was Ian Rank-Broadley. The Rewers depicts a portrait of Christopher Columbus. The surface of the coin is filled with waves along with three swaying Spanish sailing ships. The reverse bears the inscription 'OBJEVENI AMERIKY', 'KRYSTOF KOLUMBUS'.
