The coin is another piece from the new Myths & Legends series. The coin is struck in pure Au.9999 bullion, with a weight of one troy ounce and a diameter of 32.69 mm. In addition, this extraordinary piece was produced by The Royal Mint. The coin is guaranteed by the UK government as to its legality, purity of the bullion and origin of the metal, and is full legal tender in the issuer's country.

The obverse shows the likeness of King Charles III of Great Britain and the denomination and year, as designed by Martin Jennings.

The Rewers of the gold coin depict Beowulf and his first enemy Grendel engaged in an epic battle. The reverse features the year of mintage and the inscriptions 'MYTHS AND LEGENDS', 'BEOWULF & GRENDEL'. The reverse was designed by David Lawrence.
