This unique coin was struck in a limited edition of 150 pieces and, importantly, in proof standard - this means that the reverse and obverse of the gold coin were struck with a mirror stamp. Mythical Beings: The Griffin is a one troy ounce pure bullion piece of Au.9999, produced by Australia's oldest mint, Perth Mint. The griffin is a mythical animal depicted with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. In addition, this unique product is guaranteed by the Australian Government and is full legal tender in the issuing country. The product is housed in its original packaging along with a certificate of authenticity. The Overt of the gold coin is decorated with an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Jody Clark. The whole is surrounded by the inscription "ELIZABETH II" , "AUSTRALIA" and information on the face value, weight and mintage. The Rewers includes an engraved portrait of the mythical creature that is the griffin. The whole is surrounded by the inscription "MYTHICAL CREATURES" and "GRIFFIN".
