Mexico: 50 Centavo Silver 1921 is a historical circulation coin, struck in Ag 720 silver. Issued during the period of the United Mexican States (1905–1969), it represents a unique testimony of its era, combining both historical and numismatic value.
The coin weighs 8.33 g, has a diameter of 27 mm and a thickness of 2 mm. Its edge bears the inscription “INDEPENDENCIA Y LIBERTAD” (“Independence and Freedom”), reflecting the national spirit of Mexico. The obverse and reverse are aligned with a 180° rotation.
Obverse depicts the national symbol of Mexico – an eagle devouring a snake while perched on a prickly pear cactus. The legend “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS” appears around the rim, along with the fineness mark “0.720”.
Reverse shows a radiant Phrygian cap – a symbol of freedom and revolution. Below appears the denomination “50 CENTAVOS”.
