Leopold V - 825th Anniversary of the Vienna Mint 1 oz Silver 2019
The silver coin bearing the image of Leopold V is the first in a series of 3 anniversary coins. The 2019 coin weighs 1 ounce and contains a high bullion purity of 999. The coin is distinguished by its excellent design with historical character. The history of the Austrian Mint (Münze Österreich) dates back to the 12th century, when Austrian Prince Leopold VI demanded 15 tonnes of silver in exchange for the release of British King Richard the Lionheart. The process of melting the ransom and minting the coins began a long-standing tradition for the Vienna Mint, which became the State Mint during the period of the newly formed Austrian Republic, just after the First World War. The obverse depicts the figure of a crusader on horseback, as well as information such as face value, weight and the year the coin was struck.
