The Krugerrand is one of the most recognisable coins in the world. The 2023 collector's piece was made of silver with a weight of one troy ounce and a purity of Ag.999. The whole is emphasised by the quality of the minting - proof (mirror stamp) and a limited mintage of 20,000 pieces. Silver Krugerrands are minted by the South African mint Rand Refinery. They are a fully fledged means of payment, guaranteed by the South African government as to the legality, purity of the bullion and the origin of the metal. It is interesting to note that although Krugerrands are full-fledged legal tender, having no monetary value. This means that the South African Reserve Bank is obliged to repurchase the coins at the prevailing bullion price.

The obverse of the coin is decorated with a portrait of Paul Kruger and the inscription "South Africa" in Afrikaans and English.

The Rewers of the coin depict the springbok antelope, which is the symbol of South Africa. On either side of it are numbers representing the year of minting, with the inscription 'Fynsilwer 1oz fine silver r1' below, indicating the pure silver content.
