"The koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) is a species of marsupial in the koala family, an arboreal herbivorous animal that inhabits eastern Australia. The koala descends to the ground only to move on to the next tree. It lives alone or in small groups consisting of a male and several females. It is the only modern living representative of the genus Phascolarctos. The word koala comes from the word gula from the Dharuk language. dimensions: 60-85 cm body weight: 8-15 kg mating season December-March (in the southern hemisphere it is then summer) gestation: 25-35 days number of cubs: 1 cub once every 2 years sexual maturity: males 3-4 years, females 2-3 years lifespan: 15-20 years The koala is popularly known as the 'koala bear', which erroneously suggests an affinity with bears. It is found along the coast of Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. It spends most of its life in the highest branches of eucalyptus trees. It is a nocturnally active animal. Its digestive system allows it to digest only the leaves of selected plant species. The koala prefers eucalyptus (Eucalyptus), but also supplements its diet with the leaves of several species of the genera Corymbia, Angophora, Lophostemon, banksia (Banksia), Leptospermum and Melaleuca. An adult eats between 0.5 and 1 kg of leaves per day. It drinks water infrequently, only when the amount of water in the leaves decreases due to drought does it drink more often. The koala has been under complete protection since 1927." This silver bullion coin is minted from the highest purity bullion (999). It is also the newest coin produced by the Australian Mint, Perth Mint, since 2007. Legal tender in Australia. It comes from the 'Discover Australia' series, which features the region's famous animals: the koala and the kookaburra. The series has been in production for over twenty years. An excellent way to invest capital in investment metals. Recommended to investors who appreciate the aesthetic qualities of bullion and the precision of its manufacture. Perth Mint is the oldest mint in Australia in existence to date. It was founded in 1899 and at that time served as an outpost of the British Royal Mint, minting coins for the Australian market from locally mined bullion. Also known as the Gold Corporation since 1987, it still processes approximately 60% of the gold mined in Australia today. It functions as one of the top producers of bars and bullion coins. The obverse features an image of the Queen of Great Britain, Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. It also shows the face value of the coin ($1) and the inscription "Australia". The reverse illustrates the image of a koala, which changes annually.
