The Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II £5 Platinum 2022 Proof Piedfort Coin is a unique product that remembers and pays tribute to the 70th anniversary of the service of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Queen Elizabeth II was born on 21 April 1926 and died on 8 September 2022. She had been in service since 1952. In 2022, the platinum jubilee was celebrated. The product is also unique in that, for the first time, the obverse bears the likeness of the heir to the throne, King Charles III, who took over the reign after Queen Elizabeth II's death. The coin is minted in Pt.999.5 platinum, weighing 94.20 grams, 38.61 mm in diameter, proof and piedfort standard. The mintage of the coin is unlimited. In addition, this extraordinary piece was produced by The Royal Mint. The Overt depicts the likeness of King Charles III of Great Britain for the first time, as well as information on the face value and the year the coin was struck. The designer of the obverse was Martin Jennings.
The Rewers of the coin depicts the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II at the time of her coronation and towards the end of her life, together with the inscription "ELIZABETH REGINA" and information on the Queen's date of birth and death "1926-2022".
