Great Britain: The Sovereign - St George & The Dragon 2025 Gold Coin

Sovereign with the image of Saint. George fighting the dragon is one of the most recognizable and valued coins in the world. The Gold Sovereign is a popular coin minted by the excellent British mint, The Royal Mint. This edition has the distinction of being the last to be minted in red gold.

The 2025 sovereign is minted from Au.916.7 gold, 22-carat gold, 22.05 mm in diameter, weighing 7.99 grams. Each coin from the historical series has an admixture of copper, thanks to which it is highly resistant to scratches and damage. In addition, all Sovereigns are guaranteed by the UK Government.

Obverse shows the likeness of King Charles III of Great Britain, the inscription "CHARLES III∙DEI∙GRA∙REX∙FID∙DEF", designed by Martin Jennings.

The reverse shows the scene of Saint George killing the dragon. The date of issue is also given at the bottom of the gold coin. The designer of the reverse was Benedetto Pistrucci.
