The 2023 Sovereign half is minted in bullion of sample Au. 916.7, in 22 carat gold, 19.30mm in diameter, weighing 3,994 grams, in proof standard. Each coin in the historic series has an admixture of copper, so it remains highly resistant to scratches and damage. In addition, all Sovereigns are guaranteed by the UK Government.
Averse shows the likeness of King Charles III of Great Britain wearing a crown, the inscription "CHARLES III∙DEI∙GRA∙REX∙FID∙DEF", designed by Martin Jennings. The Rewers depict the scene of Saint George slaying the dragon. The date of issue is also indicated at the bottom of the gold coin. The designer of the reverse was Benedetto Pistrucci.
