Great Britain: 1/2 Gold Sovereign 2026 Proof is a collector coin from The Sovereign 2026 Collection, struck by The Royal Mint in 22‑carat gold of fineness Au 916.7, with a weight of 3.994 g and a diameter of 19.30 mm. The proof standard provides a sharp contrast between the mirror‑like fields and the frosted relief. The alloy used corresponds to approximately 3.66 g of fine gold in each coin. This piece represents half of the classic Sovereign while retaining its traditional fineness and design parameters.

The 2026 issue is among the first modern Half Sovereigns struck in traditional yellow gold after a period of issues produced in a rose gold shade. The coin forms part of a wider collection that also includes the full Sovereign and multi‑coin sets, with the proof version offered both individually and within selected presentations. The technical specifications for this issue include 916.7 gold, a 19.30 mm diameter, a milled edge and proof striking quality confirmed by The Royal Mint. Each example is delivered in an individual wooden case together with a certificate of authenticity.

Obverse features the left‑facing portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings, surrounded by the Latin legend “CHARLES III · DEI · GRA · REX · FID · DEF”. A classic beaded border runs along the rim and the edge of the coin is milled, in line with the specification of contemporary Sovereigns. The obverse composition is consistent with the other denominations of the 2026‑dated series.

Reverse shows the classic scene of Saint George on horseback spearing the dragon, after the design by Benedetto Pistrucci used on Sovereigns since 1817. In the exergue beneath the ground line the year of issue “2026” is placed, while near the lower edge the designer’s initials “B.P.” can be seen. The reverse layout corresponds to the design used on the full 2026 Sovereign, adapted in scale to the smaller diameter of the Half Sovereign.
