Gold Coin The Perth Mint: Australian Sovereign $25 2026 Proof
The Perth Mint Gold Coin: Australian Sovereign $25 2026 Proof is an exclusive collector’s issue inspired by the historic Australian sovereigns produced by The Perth Mint since the late 19th century. The coin is struck from 916.7 fine gold and contains 0.235 troy ounces of pure precious metal. Its Proof finish highlights the highest quality of craftsmanship and exceptional precision of detail.
The coin’s design is a modern interpretation of the classic scene of St George fighting the dragon, originally created by Benedetto Pistrucci for British sovereigns. For centuries, St George has symbolized courage, honor, and the triumph of good over evil, and his image remains one of the most recognizable motifs in world numismatics. The contemporary version of the design was created by Jennifer McKenna, giving the composition a dynamic and modern character while preserving its classical symbolism.
The coin was issued by the renowned Australian mint The Perth Mint and has a limited mintage of no more than 1,500 pieces. An additional collectible feature is the commemorative privy mark bearing the number “100,” marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is presented in an elegant wooden case together with a numbered certificate of authenticity and decorative packaging.
Obverse features the effigy of King Charles III by Dan Thorne, along with the denomination of 25 AUD and the name of the issuing country – Australia.
Reverse depicts a modern interpretation of the scene of St George battling the dragon. The warrior, mounted on horseback, raises his sword above the dragon, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. The design is completed by the inscriptions “AUSTRALIA,” “2026,” The Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark, and the commemorative privy mark bearing the number “100.”
