The photograph depicting American soldiers raising the United States flag atop Mount Suribachi became legendary. Taken by Joe Rosenthal, this image has become one of the most recognizable symbols of courage, sacrifice, and determination among soldiers fighting during World War II.

The coin was struck from 1/4 oz of Au 9999 gold, has a face value of 25 dollars, a thickness of 3.5 mm, and a Proof finish. The specimen was certified by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) and awarded the highest possible grade of PR-70, indicating a perfect state of preservation. The additional First Day of Issue (FDI) designation confirms that the coin was issued on the first day of its official release.
