Megaloceros giganteus, also known as the Giant Deer, once inhabited Europe and Asia, and its most distinctive feature was its impressive, sprawling antlers.

Limited Issue from the Megafauna Series

The coin is struck from 1/10 oz of Au 999.9 fine gold, has a diameter of 16 mm, and a face value of 100 Liberian dollars. The mintage is limited to 2,500 pieces, highlighting the collectible nature of this issue. The artistic design of the coin was created by Natalia Danysz, and each piece is presented in an elegant Germania Mint Safepack.

Obverse and Reverse

Obverse depicts the monumental silhouette of the Giant Deer against the backdrop of an ancient landscape. The animal’s dynamic pose emphasizes its powerful build and distinctive antlers, evoking the atmosphere of the world of prehistoric fauna.

Reverse features the skull of the extinct deer combined with its sprawling antlers and a hoof print. The composition is complemented by tracks of other species, the effigy of the Republic of Liberia, and the Germania Mint mint mark.
