Gold Coin Austria: 10 Corona Franz Joseph I Brand New (Restrike)

Austrian Gold Coin: 10 Crowns Franz Joseph I (New Strike) is a classic investment issue and a historical restrike of the 1912 coin. It is one of the most recognizable and popular European gold issues, valued for its tradition and high market liquidity.

The coin was struck in Au .900 fine gold with a total weight of 3.39 g, including 3.05 g of pure gold. Its diameter is 19 mm. The modern pieces are official new strikes (restrikes), preserving the original appearance of the historical issue.

The coin refers to the 1892 currency reform, when the crown was introduced in Austria as the new monetary unit, replacing the gulden. Gold coins with denominations of 10, 20 and 100 crowns formed the basis of the monetary system of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.

Obverse features the profile of Emperor Franz Joseph I, one of the longest-reigning monarchs in European history. The surrounding legend reads:
"FRANC IOS I D G IMP AVSTR REX BOH GAL ILL ETC ET AP REX HVNG",
which means: "Franz Joseph I, by the grace of God Emperor of Austria, King of Bohemia, Galicia and Illyria, etc., and Apostolic King of Hungary".

Reverse is adorned with the Habsburg coat of arms depicting the imperial double-headed eagle. The legend around reads "X CORONAE M MDCCCCXII", which denotes the face value (10 crowns) and the date 1912 as the symbolic year of issue.
