This ingenious coin design combines a mass of polygons to form the image of Rangifer tarandus - a species of mammal in the deer family (Cervidae), inhabiting the Arctic tundra and forest-tundra in Eurasia and North America.This is the third coin in the "Geometry in Art" series. , a series that reinterprets Canada's national signs. The unique engraving, relief and use of various finishing techniques adds distinctiveness to the shapes of each polygon, which create a stylised image and showcase the craftsmanship and beauty of the workmanship. The technique and art known as "low poly" (polygonal art - the representation of familiar shapes using the simplest possible polygons that meet at the edges) , previously known from video games, was combined with the outstanding drawing and sculpting skills of the project's originators, resulting in a coin that we have never seen before. The rich, vivid colours, associated by many with the aurora borealis, give a sense of depth and a visible battle of light, as well as a sense of three-dimensionality.
The obverse as with every Canadian coin is decorated with an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, the coin is minted with a mirror stamp and therefore lacks the radial lines in the coin's background.

Rewers represents two caribou individuals in their natural habitat, as they inhabit the Arctic tundra. Like the previous coins, the image brings together many geometric shapes, the silhouettes of the caribou are made of polygons perfectly joined together, and the colours used - shades of white, navy blue, grey and green - give the feeling as if we are looking at an incredibly realistic painting.
