Emu Utingat Colorized 2 oz Silver 2025 Antiqued Coin
Emu Utingat Coloured 2 oz Silver 2025 Antiqued Coin is a unique collector coin issued by The Perth Mint, commemorating the emu – Australia’s largest bird, known in the language of the Kalkadoon people as “Utingat”. In traditional Dreamtime stories, the emu travelled sacred paths in search of water and food, symbolising strength, endurance, and connection to the land.
The coin is struck from 99.99% pure silver in an antiqued finish with coloured elements. The reverse features original artwork by contemporary Aboriginal artist Chern’ee Sutton – a proud member of the Kalkadoon people. Her works have been displayed in numerous government institutions and are part of the Royal Collection at Buckingham Palace.
Reverse shows a coloured emu with three chicks, surrounded by rich Aboriginal-inspired symbolism. The large yellow circle with red and orange dots symbolises the sun and its rays, while the central community icon represents the diverse communities and habitats inhabited by the emu. The grey feather alludes to the bird’s habit of leaving feathers in nests and along tracks. Green and brown arcs stand for mountains, while the blue line pattern with footprints depicts the emu’s journey and rivers with waterholes. The design also includes the “P” mintmark and the year “2025”.
Obverse features the effigy of King Charles III by Dan Thorne, along with inscriptions indicating weight, silver purity, face value, and country of issue.
