"Odkryj Polskę – Kopiec Wyzwolenia 5 zł 2019" is a coin from the "Discover Poland" series. The Liberation Mound in Gdynia is a symbolic site commemorating the events related to the liberation of Pomerania by the Red Army in 1945. The mound, built on a hill, is one of the most important historical landmarks in the region, serving as a symbol of remembrance for these events and the sacrifices made by the local residents. Its location also offers a beautiful view of the panorama of Gdynia and the surrounding area, making it a popular tourist destination.
The coin was minted in 2019, with a ring made of nickel copper and a core made of aluminum-nickel bronze, weighing 6.54 grams and with a diameter of 24 mm. The collectible nature of this coin is emphasized by its limited mintage, which is capped at 1,200,000 pieces.
On the obverse of the coin, in a semicircle, is the inscription "RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA" and "5 ZŁ." In the lower part of the obverse is an image of the eagle, established as the national emblem of the Republic of Poland, with the date of issue below it.
On the reverse is an image of the Liberation Mound in Gdynia, along with the inscription "KOPIEC WYZWOLENIA W GDYNI." The coin's design was created by Dobrochna Surajewska. This is a unique collectible item that combines historical significance with numismatic aesthetics.
