Game of Thrones – Ice 50p 2026 – Cupro-Nickel Coin
The Game of Thrones – Ice 50p 2026 cupro-nickel coin is an official release by The Royal Mint, issued to mark the 15th anniversary of the television debut of “Game of Thrones.” The series, which first aired in 2011, was based on the bestselling “A Song of Ice and Fire” saga and became one of the most recognizable phenomena in modern fantasy television.
Ice and the Night King
The coin represents Ice – one of the two main elements of The Royal Mint’s special issue dedicated to the world of Westeros. The central figure of this variant is the Night King, one of the most iconic antagonists of the series. The coin is struck in cupro-nickel, weighs 8 grams, and has a face value of 50 pence. The reverse was designed by Ffion Rees, while the portrait of the monarch was created by Martin Jennings. This variant is offered in a dedicated card and has an unlimited mintage.
Obverse and reverse of the coin
Obverse features the official portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings. Surrounding the monarch’s likeness are inscriptions including, among other details, the denomination of 50 pence and the year of issue, 2026.
Reverse, designed by Ffion Rees, depicts the Night King, whose image symbolizes Ice and the threat approaching from the north of Westeros. The composition serves as the counterpart to the Fire motif featuring a dragon, together forming a two-part numismatic story of the world of “Game of Thrones.”
