Claude Monet lived from14 November 1840 to 5 December 1926 and was one of the founders of French Impressionist painting. He adopted the movement's philosophy of expressing his own observations in front of nature, particularly in landscape painting. The coin was struck in pure Ag.999 silver, weighing 2 troy ounces, 50 mm in diameter, in proof and ultra high relief. The mintage of the coin is 1,500 pieces. The product is full legal tender in the Cook Islands.
The obverse depicts Claude Monet painting an image of Queen Elizabeth II. The obverse also features the inscription "ELIZABETH II", "COOK ISLANDS" and the denomination. The obverse was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley.
