Cook Islands: Beijing – Temple of Heaven 2 oz Silver 2023 Ultra High Relief Antiqued Coin
The "Temple of Heaven" is considered the highest achievement of traditional Chinese architecture. Construction of the palace was completed in 1420 along with the Forbidden City in Beijing. Unfortunately, the original complex burned down in a fire caused by a lightning strike in 1889. A few years later it was rebuilt identically to the original.
The silver coin was struck in pure Ag.999 silver, weighing 2 troy ounces, in ultra high relief and antiqued standard. The mintage of the coin is 1,888 pieces. The product is full legal tender in the Cook Islands.
The obverserepresents an image of Queen Elizabeth II of the back of the palace of the "Temple of Heaven". The obverse also bears the inscription 'ELIZABETH II', 'COOK ISLANDS' and the denomination. The obverse was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley.
The reverse features the "Temple of Heaven" palace in Beijing, China, the inscription "TEMPLE OF HEAVEN BEIJING" and the year the coin was struck.
