Cook Islands: 60 Years of Self-Government Colored 2 oz Silver 2025 Proof is a remarkable commemorative coin issued to mark the 60th anniversary of the Cook Islands’ self-government. Released in the jubilee year 2025, it pays tribute to the history, culture, and national identity of this unique Pacific nation. It bears the proud motto: “Kua kite au i toku turanga, e Avaiki toku – I know who I am. I have a home.”
The year 2025 brings colorful celebrations – parades, music, and dance – reminding us of six decades of self-determination, unity, and sovereign progress. The Cook Islands are an enchanting archipelago of 15 islands located in the heart of the South Pacific, surrounded by more than 2 million square kilometers of ocean. The main island, Rarotonga, delights with tropical landscapes, impressive mountains, crystal-clear lagoons, and the warm hospitality of its people, deeply connected to their homeland.
To honor this milestone, an exclusive series of commemorative coins has been released. Each piece depicts the island of Rarotonga in breathtaking ultra-high relief, enhanced with rich coloring and state-of-the-art smartminting technology. The design makes the island appear to glow under the Pacific sun. The mintage is strictly limited to only 600 pieces worldwide!
Reverse shows the island of Rarotonga in impressive ultra-high relief. Detailed landscape rendering, combined with coloring and innovative minting technology, captures the extraordinary beauty of the tropical island, radiating the glow and energy of the South Pacific sun.
Obverse depicts the effigy of King Charles III on the right side of the composition. Around his portrait are inscriptions of his name, the year of issue, the face value, and the issuing country. The remaining part of the design is filled with a map of the Cook Islands, symbolically emphasizing the national character of the coin.
